WM3 sustainer 02162019.kmlDescription
Well i was a perfect launch but a lot to be said for recovery. Second stage lit as expected. The booster recovery failed miserably. No apogee event and came in ballistic. All electronics destroyed. Perfect flight SLC, MiniTimer4, RF tracker, Chute release. The sustainer air start was right on queue, apogee event perfect but at about 2900 feet, the RRC3 went totally dead. No damage ad least since in landed in soft field under drogue. Had to cut off about 6" of booster get everything out. ISC destroyed. Rebuild of booster will follow.

Sorry to hear that Tim, but as I know you, it will fly again !
Sorry it happened!
Tim, can you bot make a device that you can remotely deploy the chute in case of failure ?
Probably as long as you are inclose enough range. Think Missile Works makes something like that. A 2nd altimeter would have prevented the sustainer failure and was going to add a second one after this flight. Same with the booster. The booster altimeter never fired apogee charge. Found the BP charge & ematch unfired.

Thanks. Good news is both rocket airframes undamaged, just a loss of electronics & coupler.
