ZODIAC CRUISER II - THIRD FLIGHT
2022-01-16 00:02:00ZStratologger
Stratologger I Main Data.pf2 Stratologger II Back Up Data.pf2Description
Got a bit lost in picking a rocket, but the weather seems to look great and clear skies so I will go for a 7K+ flight with the Zodiac this time, hasn't been flow more than a year. So today I just check the stratologgers and they were good to go. Jason will be there and probably gone fora high-altitude flight also, just keep checking thewinds at 10 K for now. Will use the streamer and make sure that it is packet better and not tight. iPhone will beup and running with the camara on ON the whole time.
Update 01/11/2022 - Made the z-ties (2), installed and greased the motor. Unrolled the igniter. Fit the sled in the AvBay. Will do chute and streamer and dog-barf tomorrow.
Update 01/12/22 - Will make more charges today, the pre-made charges are too powerful forthis rocket. Folded the streamer and installed, folded the main chute and installed, dog-barf all over and chute protectors. just the charges and all GO. Also, might takethe motor charge out, because that is set for 15 sec, but the rocket will coast for 17.7seconds.
Update 01/13/2022 - Made and installed the charges. All connected on AvBay.
Update 01/14/2022 - Rocket all loaded in car, batteries all charging. ready to GO.
Update 01/15/2022 - LAUNCH DAY - All went smooth, most of it pre prepped in the house. Just installed camera on shock cord and phone-inAvBay. Florence taking pictures while getting the rocket ready. Switched on camera iPhone, running .. No IR app running, it's the new (old) iPhone 4.... still have to fix the old one (battery replace). GoPro running.... At E1 pad, trying straight up. Ground Gopro camera running also(4K). Sunny day, no clouds, low winds at ground level. With Jason and Florence (camera girl) to the pad. Loading rocket all camera's on. Smooth take off. Streamer came out, nice visible. But it seems that the high winds drifted the rocket to the East tree-line. Whistle took forever to get connected. Went a few times searching, no luck, asked the 4 wheel drivers for a search. (ATV). Watched a few launches and asked Carlos and Jason to take a look and Carlosgoing for a search hunt on Sunday. Well after a few launches and taking pictures I went searching again. Jason made a video and had the landing recorded very clearly that it went down behind a stand alone tree. So that's where I was going to, Pulled up close to the search area and there was a track leading into the bush area. walked around and came to a roadway and some intersection. and yes saw the streamer in the distance! Without the streamer I probably would never found it. All good picked itup, walked back, told Jason who saw it on the whistle GPS app already at the same time. Drove back to the field and told Carlos, I was happy and Carlos was happy not to go on a search on Sunday in the wind and rain. Have lots of pictures and video, but the iPhone video stopped recording before the launch, probably overheated. But good enough data. Thanks Jason for being there.
