Stratologger I Main Data.pf2 Stratologger II back Up Data.pf2Description
Selected Hell Cat II for this flight, hoping weather stays good. Last minute prepping and testing stratologgers also. Those are good already. Till need to prep the wholerocket, charge all batteries etc, real busy these days.
Update 03/18/2022 - Prepping the rocket more, motor in casing, applied grease, Parachute 60" folded, streamer150' in booster, all charges loaded. RTX in it's new case with protectorfoam and blue tape. Nexus 5 charging and all batteries camera's. It was a struggle this last minute prepping and packing, had a very busy week at work and different appointments.
Update 03/19/2022 - LAUNCH DAY - Oh boy, arriving at the field around 10:15 AM, lots and lots of cars, really really really packed, never seen this before. Did not want to launch, but Tom was pretty at it and launched in a rapid sequence before the rockets came down. So yes U prepped my rocket, was a breezy, got a GPS fix, RTX was in the nose cone with foam, this is the new RTX that Jim mailedme from Hawaii. Used the nexus 5 in the bay, all fits snug. GoPro camera on the shock cord in the booster with the streamer. Launch pad @ E1, nice rail and straight up. Winds were around 10 mph from the south. Had a 60" chute in the upper bay with spill hole. Nice straight upflight, never seen before. just under the cloud base. Streamer (150') came out nice. some drift to the north of the field and in the higher bush line/edge. Recovery in some heavy bush, streamer was draped allover the place and pulling it to get the rocket out of the top of the tree. Nop did not work great, pulling and pulling some more, and yes it gave away a bit so the booster was a bit lower so I could grab it and pull on the booster till the bay and nose cone and chute came down, took some time also. Ripped the streamer clean off and repairable for sure. Temperatures are getting into the 80's now around lunch time. a bit sweating for now but all good, have video of the GoPro booster cam and the Nexus 5 phone and a ground GoPro camera. all good. But I noticed that one charge from the main chute did not go off, dam will investigate that for sure. Also it seems that a new field for NEFAR is not going anywhere now, got different signals talking to leie and Rob. Seems that nobody wants a rocket club in their backyard. Also the on board GoPro and Phone video'sshow how windy it was at the recovery.

Nice flight!
Well actually, this is one of those rare launches that the rocket goes straight up.
