It's time to fly this rocket again, a not so much of a fast motor, just a 3 grain K motor, will bring it close to 7000 feet. Hope that the weather is getting better. It has been raining here now for weeks in the afternoon. So the predictions are low winds and 50 % cloud cover and hot like 102 F ! This time a might leave the motor ejection charge inside because I have a feeling that it will deploy earlier at apogee. So those 17 s are a good back up for a back up..
I also put a 24" drogue and a 45" main inside on one line. yes the chute release will be use for sure.
Update 08/08/2017 - Since I have the motor already, I greased it and put it in the casing and inside the rocket also.
Update 08/09/2017 - Made the charges today, 1.8 for Drogue and 2.1 grams for back up drogue. Also put the rubber bands on the shock cord of the drogue part. The upper part does not have a shock cord. Both chutes are on one cord, with chute release.
Update 08/10/2017 - Charges loaded and chutes folded, checked snug of av bay in lower part. The upper avbay was really to tight so I had to sand that a bit out. All good. Still need Tagg and RTX on chock cord and also the chute release !
Update 08/11/2017 - Car loaded, rocket prepped to da max, still need Tagg on shock cord and RTX, Rtx charged and in holder, Motor in rocket and igniter measured out. Iphone fit also, window cleaned, all good !
Update 08/12/2017 - LAUNCH DAY - Great cooler weather and a bit more cloudy then predicted. Rocket prepping was a breeze also. Was on the second launch row, Jason was the first to go and his rocket landed a bit far out so I adjusted the angle a bit and got a closer landing point. Rocket took off smooth, those 3 grain motor are really cool. Had no problem finding the rocket with the tagg and the RTX. The chute release deployded at 400 feet, a bit to short and also have to adjust a longer chock cord for that rocket. The two boosters seems to hit each other during decent... All good, have lots of images and video and Jimmy took also a great video, Lost the rocket when the first event happened and did not see it coming down and deploy, to bad. It also looks that the altitude was a bit higher and also the velocity was more then the sim !!!
