Stratologger I Main.pf2 Stratologger II Back Up.pf2Description
Unexpected trip to Tifton Georgia for the Turkey Launch Day. Was not prepared so I grabbed the Lightning and the K740 CS motor that I had, But If Chris Short has a more powerful 5 or 6 grain motor I will take that to get over 10.000 feet !!! Have the rocket prepped and packed up in the car, Have a drogue chute in 24" and also on the same line a 36" chute with chute release at 400 feet ! Also a main in the upper bay at 700", just to ensure deployment and test the chute release again. Hope recovery goes well !
Update 11/26/2016 - Great great Launch-day, a bit more windy then the predictions but still good !Temperatures in the low 60's, no crowd !! Plenty time to prep the rocket. Had some difficulties with the av bay sliding in the front part, so I have to open up the nose cone section again. But all fit well. The drogue with the bottom main on a chute release and the upper main. All deployed as expected, A bit far of a recovery but one of the owner farmers brought me with his golf-cart to the field were my rocket landed.... in his own backyard !! haha Chris Short did not have the motor that I wanted to take the rocket to 13K, so I used mine that I got from Bernie, and it was a real success! The conditions were really dry, it used to be a cotton field but now it was all dust, blowing dust. I will do a good cleaning on the rocket and the parts and get the fine sand out !!! Casing looks really clean, did a good coat of grease on the motor liner !
The rocket went just over Mach also: Mach 1.066

Good luck, have fun & take lots of pictures - should be a great day!
I love this flight Freddy!
You can tell on both of your flights you went higher than Mach due to the abrupt change in rotation. On this flight, If you look at your velocity data, it will coincide with dipping to / from(2.3 through 2.7 second mark) transonic speeds during those times. The actual time above mach may be less - like a total .2 seconds due to wind pushing over some of the pieces at mach speeds prior to entire rocket moving mach.
While I believe this went over mach, Velocity is probably less than stratologger reports due to shock disturbances in air as a rocket goes transonic. At around mach 1.3 (this flight went less than that), readings stabilize.
Your lines from the stratologger for velocity are nice and clean, with a nice peak point, further confirming a fairly accurate velocity track.
Cool stuff!!!
Thanks Jason, still aiming for a flight over mach 1.3 ! This was only a 4 grain motor..

Was looking at the CSV file from this flight & another launch. Does the phone max out at 2G?
Yes mine does Tim.... But the newer phones can handle much more. I keep my Iphone, The Av Bays are all remodeled to fit that phone only. So no changes anymore there... Talk to Jason about the G's...He has newer phones..
