This is the rocket that put the 1st American in space! Yes it is! This is a Polecat Aerospace 5.5", 1/13 scale Mercury Redstone. Cardboard tubing with 2 layers of fiberglass. FWFG NC, birch fins & birch CR's. I upgraded the Av bay to FG, didn't like the cardboard tube that came with kit. Stickers from Stickershock23.com. Had to add 21 oz. to NC to make this beast stable due to the very small fins!
The overall length is actually 81" but the Open Rocket files does not include escape tower. This was definetly my most difficult build!
