Lining up this rocket for a spin correction flight on a fast 3 grain motor.
Started to prep this rocket for a busy Bunnell Launch day in April - The NEFAR Bunnell Blast. Will be using a 60" chute, that fits in nice and smooth.
Purpose of flight - Check spin correction....
Update 04/13/2017 - Made the Charges today and tucked them away for now. Will test the Av Bay first before I installed them.
Update 04/16/2017 - Testing and checking the Av Bays and Electronics. All good.
Update 04/19/2017 - Charges loaded in the rocket and av bay, parachutes folded, reday to take to the field.
Update 04/21/2017 - All double checked and packed up in the car, tried the snugness of he Av Bay in the lower frame. Rocket will be loaded with RTX and Tagg. Did not decide on the motor yet, will see what Bernie has, aiming for a blue, green or red.
Update 04/22/2017 - Came home from the first day launch and prepped some more on the rocket for Sunday Bunnell Blast day two launch, Clayton will go for his L3 ! Also bought the J449 BS from Bernie to launch.
Update 04/23/2017 - Launch day, Early drive again to be on time on the field for prepping.... All went well and smooth. Iphone in the av bay, very snug fit, one of the brass rods came of the sled but was no issue since all was very much taped off. Got Tag/GPS fix and off to the launch pads. Lots of pictures taking by Clayton. Picked pad # 14 and slided rocket on rail and started prepping the igniter, rocket fell from rail because it was a 15/15 rail !! Freddy pay attention ! Fell on my head and the paint cracked on the nose cone ! Did hurt for a while on my left ear but all good, Electronics and iphone still responding... Picked rail 11, had a hard time again aligning straight up, pad was shaky.. Very little wind at the time but some smaller gusts were present. Little angle... Launch went great on that BS 3 grain motor. Recovery was not that far and Clayton came with me for recovery. Will have to adjust the rail buttons they are to close to the frame and to small also. Repainting the nose cone also. Clayton his parents were there also Sunday very calm day, great second Bunnell Blast launch day for sure !! Not that many flyers. have great on-board video and lots of pictures, Clayton made video with my tabled, Came out just great !!
Update 04/24/2017 - Cleaned the casing today with wipes and WD-40. All came out clean !
Spin comparison with previous flight - Rotation in opposite direction, have to adjust taking one layer of Scots tape of, that half inch one on all fins, just for a next flight.
