Through the week, winds 5k and over were predicted at over 30 miles per hour, so I never expected to be able to launch on Saturday. On Friday, I checked the predicted winds and they had dropped down to a max of 26mph. After work, I quickly prepped the vehicle and rocket.
Since I have not launched in awhile, prep work at the pad was slow. I double checked everything, including using a volt meter to check voltage lines coming from the self launcher. Ground winds were kinda high at 13mph, but I had confidence in the upper winds.
On ignition, it appeared that the igniter blew itself out even though the end cap was cut with a large triangle for venting. A few seconds later, smoke and ignition from the motor!
It was a beautiful blue sky day out there with little white puffy clouds, making for a great view. Rocket and motor performed better than expected going over 400 feet higher than estimate.
GPS led me right to rocket which was around 100 feet off of a road. I could not see the rocket due to the tall grass until I was practically right on top of it. There was swamp near the road so I wore my rubber boots. Rocket was dry and recovery was easy.

How was your recovery ???? I was waiting on the wrong end of the road to catch up with you..
GPS led me right to it, had to be practically on top of it to see in all the tall grass. I put on my rubber boots due to swamp near road remembering that snake that bit you. Recovery was easy, quick walk from road, around 100 feet
And yes I had to walk into that tall grass again, that was a real struggle, Good that you had a better path.

Jason, what is the name of that rocket you launched ?? Oh I see NEXT...
NEXT, thought of Steve Job's NeXT computer when building. Most people don't know about it, but it changed computing forever and resulted in what Apple is today.
