I have made a replacement for the Bonga. Humidity from being lost for a month outside finally wore out the original Bonga.
Basic Estes style cardstock / balsa rocket equipped with LEDs for nosecone and aft.
My intent was just a quick coat of paint without primer, to keep it light. But then I got the stupid idea to get crazy and primer and finish it. Due to much much sanding of primer coat, I was able to reduce the weight by a half ounce, but still heavier than it would have been without primer coat
Weights below are without batteries and lighting as most of the time this will be a day flyer.
Prior to paint job: 3 ounces
After paint: 3.4 ounces
It still should fly pretty high and I'm looking forward to its first flight.
