Frenzy flight 5.pf2Description
Going to put an L730 CTI 54-6XL in this puppy!
Boost was incredible - clear blue skies all the way to apogee, GPS reported 11,738 feet. Main deployed as planned except ground wind quit during flight and drifted too far due to upper level cross winds. Ground winds were expected to bring it more south but oh well - it is now strung across2 trees about 0.7 miles from pad about 65 feet up.
Sad part was it has a TeleGPS, Mobius camera, 2 altimeters, RF tracker & 54mm 6XL case. Hope to get it down with sling shot. Still calling this a success since everything worked as expected & I will get it back!
Update 12/3/2017: Shawn O'Connor & Mr. Roy were able to get the entire rocket down from the trees fully intact using slingshot method! Will try to pick it up in a few weeks.
Update 12/9/2017: Picked up rocket today from Shawn's house. All intact except camera which was taped to airframe. All Lipo batteries dead. RF tracker still working and putting out signal after 2 weeks. The 54XL case had a bulge from near CATO. The small Oring burned thru but not before all propellant was exhausted. Got lucky!
Alt 1 reported 11,378', Alt 2 reported 11,314' and GPSreported 11,738'. Also flight exceeded Mach so data was a little fuzzy but cleaned it up pretty good!
Comments
Tim, you have to correct the altitude numbers for this rocket !!!!!!
I agree, this is a total success even if you don't get the kit back. It flew perfectly. It had main open. All deployment & condition is flawless.
Thanks! Hopefully Shawn will bring me good news tomorrow!
