Stratologger II Back up.pf2 Stratologger I main.pf2Description
Getting this rocket ready for the July Launch. Very excited that Jeff Millner gave me this rocket with a 38 mm MM. My first reaction was to put a 75mm MM in it !!! Still some minor work needs to be done. Av Bay needs just the wiring and glue in the MM and touch up paint and waxing !
Update 07/02/2016 - Stratologgers tested with older batteries, all up and running, check for altitude deployment charges. Secured the Iphone holder with a screw to the sled, seems to work fine.
Update 07/05/2016 - Really pumped about this rocket and first flight - will extend it with 10" blue tube after this flight and a 6" coupler or no. planning to launch it on 54 mm K motor in the future... and hopefully it survives... Z-ties are made and main parachute is folded and fits nicely inside.... decided to use Michaels 70" parachute that I used for the Thunderstruck, just to be safe now. will see the decent rate after and decide then for change into 64" dome parachute.
Update 07/06/2016 - Made the charges today and packed the chutes in the black nomex protector for main and red nomex protector for drogue. These will be changed later when I have the fitting chock cord for the rocket.
Update 07/07/2016 - Just got word from Greg that the launch for July is cancelled due to dry field conditions and Fire and irrigation and mowing conditions.... So I will extend the UV Express with 10" and feel much safer to fly it then..
Update 08/07/2016 - Good thing that the launch got postponed ! The rocket is extended by 12" Tubing (blue tube) from Bernie ! Pyros made and will in stall them later this week. All tested and looks ready to go ! Parachutes folded, pyro is in power bay already with lots of dogbarf just connecting....Upper bay main parachute is in and sheerpins in place kinda tight but good also lots of dogbarf.
Also had to build up the iphone holder with a cushion to get closer to the window, but now it looks just great!
Update 08/10/2016 - Just a reminder, I'm using Michael West 70" sky angle parachute , and see what the outcome is with the decent speed, might switch to the 64" dome parachute for this.
Update 08/12/2016 - Just re calculated the full weight of the rocket, amazingly its 21.8 lb WITH the motor included fully packed ! So that's like 16.25 without motor and casing that's like 7.375 grams empty !
Update 08/13/2016 - Launch day - skies are clear, light wind, pad 13. Great great take off and flight and loud ! Very successful flight indeed. Very happy with the rocket. Light rotation showing to apogee, like 5 rotations ! Landed only 20 feet from launchpad !!!!!!!
Now for the clean up of the motor casing !!! Very dirty job !
Also when putting the rocket on the launch rail, it was a bitsqueaky, I mean thatone of the round head screws was touching the inner rail, head was to thick and sticking to much out, I put a new screw in it and grinded them both down, for safety.
Also Jimmy's video shows the back up charges going off perfectly. So the flight was absolutely perfect.

IMO - That was the best flight you have ever had. It was really a show stopper! Bravo Freddy!
Thanks Eric, but I should be really trilled if you fly on a bigger motor next month ! That long burn skidmark was awesome ! Will try that also.... but an L ... man that should be outrages !!
