Stratologger Back Up II data.pf2 Stratologger Main I data.pf2Description
Started prepping this rocket for launch at the Bunnell Blast in November. Might go on Saturday. Clayton will be doing his L3 hopefully and it also might get busy that weekend.
Update 10/20/2017 - Dry fit the Av Bay and sled for the Nexus phone, all good did make a few small adjustments and also the little screw adjustments to line up the camera with the window. Will be looking for a 4 grain motor for a spectacular take off, hopefully Bernie has the K515 SK (5 grain) - If not I will be using my K454 SK that I already bought last October launch. Actually will look for a faster 4 grain motor, the K454 might be to slow in take off mode.
Update 11/06/2017 - Completed the nose cone section, folded the parachute (Michael West's parachute 70"), nicely folded and z ties with rubberbands. Also installed the 3 sheerpins in the nose cone, all filled up with dog-barf. This section is a go. The only thing left is the bottom section and the AvBay... Made all the charges but they are stored in the cylinders for now, Will attach them later this week and get ready for Sunday.
Update 11/07/2017 - Checked out the stratologgers A & B, all working great and battery in good condition also. Had to adjust the adjustment nut in the AvBay rod to get the window of the Nexus 4 more centered. All good now.
Update 11/08/2017 - Did some taping on the shock cord were it exits the lower frame... just to prevent zippers there. Also made 5 Z ties on the lower frame shock cord. Did not fold the parachute yet, but all is ready to go.
Update 11/09/2017 - Very windy forecast for Saturday... Just waiting on better weather..
Update 11/10/2017 - Connected the charges for Main and Drogue, Also loaded the car. Charging all the batteries, Camera's, RTX (2), Tagg, etc... Nobody left behind... haha
Update 1/11/2017 - Launch Day - Indeed windy day and very cloudy. But did launch the Merlin and went with a little angle like (7 - 10 degrees) my guess... Bernie did not have any 5 grain motors and neither did Tom, so i took a K500 Red Lightning and that performed great with nice mach diamonds in Clayton his GOPRO camera capture... Very excited about this flight. came down west past the field in an open patch JUST cleared the trees !! Parachute was actually halfway draped in a tree but came out nice. didn't took me long to get it all packed up and back to the field for more fun. Great day and Launch and happy about it. Have to look if I have any data or video recording from the nexus 4.. I'm not sure, could not find any on the field...

Those are pretty wimpy motors! What will you launch on Sunday?
I agree Tim, But I can accomplish the same with a 4 grain 54 mm motor then with a 2 grain 75 mm motor...And right now I do not wanna go high, wanna stay around 4 to 5 K.. I don't know yet. Plan is launching the Merlin on Saturday and the HiTech rebuild on Sunday.. Hope to get that K515 SK, that always impressive stuff...and loud ! haha
