Description
Yes, It's Hell Cat flying time again. small motor I guess, 2 or 3 grain this time and streamer, Also will have a small chute with chute release-test. Hope all fit in there snug.
Update 10/14/2020 - Made all the charges 1.8 - 2.2 gram for drogue, and 1.8 - 2.0 gram for main. Also installed the motor, greased it and doubled up the O-rings.
Update 10/14/2020 - Installed the booster charge, attached the streamer (140 feet) and the main chute, all packet in the booster with lots of dog barf. Upper section has main installed, dog barf and shear pins.
Update 10/15/2020 - Installed all the charges, Charging all the electronics, like RTX / Tagg / GoPro (2) / Chute release / Canon Camera batteries (2) / Nikon camera / Nexus 5. all is prepped. Weather forecast shows 15+ mph winds and low cloud cover like 1700 feet !!!
Update 10/16/2020 - Car is all loaded up, still charging batteries from Camera's. Will check the weather again, hopefully it is better to launch to 4500 feet.
Update 10/17/2020 - LAUNCH DAY - Very windy as predicted, did see Gary measuring the wind speed at times and it was between 18 and15 mph !!!! Arrived around 10:10 AM at the field, nothing was going on yet. Tim had a nice space for me along side with Gary. We all started prepping but it seems to move slowly, winds were indeed strong. After a few rockets launches I decided to start prepping and go for launch, that streamer will same me !! haha. Prepping went smooth, no issues, all stuffed in, the RTX got smooth signal and it fitted just fine with the GoPro camera and the Tagg. Again, low speed so no shear pins in booster, only the nose cone. Went to pad D3 for setup on rail had the stratologgers on and ignitor in, but could not get a beep from the, so I decided to take the lead from pad D2 to get connected and that worked fine. Had the camera GoPro inside the rocket on and also one on a tripod near the launchpad. Had a steep angle like around 10 degrees NE to make sure that the rocket landed not to far off. Had to wait a few minutes for an other rocket to launch but that ignitor failed, so my turn came very quickly. Rocket took the skies like a breeze and fast ! stayed just under the clouds and the streamer came out swiftly. All good the wind blew the rocket into the good direction and when the main chute came out it got real close to the launch pads and landed just a few feet away from the RSO/Tom. All real good and happy, Helped Gary to recover his rocket and than I picked up my rocket in the tall grassy area. The steamer was draped all over the grass and also partly in the lower bush. Have great video van the GoPro on the shock cord and also some from the Nexus 4, window was a bit off and did show just a little bit video. No video van GoPro on tripod. Have great pictures as well. Thanks
