Altimeter I Main.pf2 Altimeter II Back Up.pf2Description
Planning to get this rocket ready for GRITS, Georgia in April 2016.
Also will fly this first in Bunnell for a test flight like close to Mach 1 or so or a K261 motor and see how it performs with the new fins.
UPDATE 01/03/2016 - Rocket is in the final stage of finishing, if the weather cooperates then I will do some painting. Still need to do the window for the Iphone setup. Hope to get it all ready for the February launch.
UPDATE 01/09/2016 - Bought my motor from Bernie - K454-19 skidmark.
UPDATE 02/09/2016 - Rocket all packed and ready to fly. Total weight right now 4920 grams all included !
UPDATE 02/10/2016 - While testing the stratologgers, I had a scary AMPS and voltage readout with a new battery. Tested the battery in other stratologgers and the readout there was fine. I even disconnected everything with that faulty stratologgers and still had weird readouts ! Will be send back to perfectflite !! faulty stratologger replaced and all working good.
UPDATE 02/12/2016 - Charges made (4) - Still very windy conditions on the field, might not happen, hoping for the best.
UPDATE 02/13/2016 - Very windy morning, frustrating launch line, finally decided to launch, rocket all prepped, waiting for pad# 14, short launchrail, but nice take off on that skidmark motor ! Rocket landed south East in next field over, easy recovery with Thea's golf cart ! Winds calmed down in the afternoon. Great day seeing Jason, Eric, Jeff and Tim !

Awesome! Due to your rocket being over 3 pounds heavier than the EZI, what is your takeoff speed the k261 with 12 feet rail?
Please use my launcher for additional takeoff speed.
Jeez t/o speed on a 12 feet rail is 'only' 58.8 ft/sec !
You should be fine provided wind is very low.
General rule for "standard looking" rockets: 45 FT/SEC up to 5 MPH wind + 9 FT/SEC for each mph above 5.
Easy calculation min speed: WIND_MPH(min of 5) x 9=FT/SEC off rail.
While your rocket would fly fine near max wind threshold, I wouldn't fly near max wind because your rocket will weatherclock like mad. Translation: 6mph wind on ground will really weather-clock. And since you can't tilt the rail downwind because it will just fly downwind, you are in for a long walk.
I would also highly recommend a ZERO degree rail tilt.
Lastly, you may not want to do a k261 as maiden relaunch of that rocket. See how it flies first with a higher thrust since the k261 has a very slow lift-off and is a very long burning motor.
Ok, since we are experts in tree recovery(s)...Like a straight up flight !!!
The motor that I already have for this flght is the K454 SK. Just trying to get that rocket primed, painted and waxed !!! A bit cold to start that project, will try this weekend. (01/16/2016)..
